FLO Friday: Let's Talk About Teaching PresenceApril 17, 2026
Facilitator: Stephen Chase
Host: Dr. Helena Prins
How we show up as educators and how we invite learners to participate matters. In this interactive session, we will explore teaching presence and the values behind our teaching choices.
Through guided reflection and group discussion, you will connect your own experiences to research‑informed models. You will leave with fresh perspectives and tangible ideas to strengthen your presence in your courses, no matter the modality.
As part of this exploration, we will draw on the Community of Inquiry Model (Garrison, Anderson, and Archer, 1999) and the Circle of Courage Model (Brendtro, Brokenleg, and Bockern, 2013) as lenses for reflection and insight.
Following this session, you will be able to:
- Reflect on conceptual models of presence and values in teaching and learning
- Identify values and intentions that shape teaching choices
- Develop at least one actionable idea for enhancing presence in your courses
