FLO Friday: Towards Trauma-Aware Teaching

The aim of this FLO Friday workshop was to build educational tools for trauma-aware teaching practices. Facilitator Ki Wight shared new learning from research conducted by Dr. Sandra VanderKaay from McMaster University (2023) and her “Do It Anyway!” resource for Trauma-Informed Pedagogical Strategies.

Educators who are new to this topic, along with those who have experience teaching with trauma awareness, are invited to view this recording and the attached resources.

Learning Outcomes:

• Recognize a variety of trauma-aware educational practices.
• Compile trauma-aware teaching strategies and practices to use and share.
