BCcampus webinar hosted on June 18, 2020
Facilitators: George Veletsianos, Tannis Morgan
Typically, three criteria are used to evaluate open or digital education resources and practices: Is the resource or practice effective? Is it efficient? Is it engaging? In this webinar, Dr. George Veletsianos, a professor in the School of Education and Technology at Royal Roads University, will argue that we need to expand our evaluation criteria. We should devote the same energy and resources to asking, Is the resource or practice equitable? “Good” open and digital education requires equity to be centred. In addition to proposing an evaluation framework, Dr. Veletsianos will use past research to give examples of how a focus on equity invites us to reconsider research and practice.
